SiO II
Created in 2021, SiO II continues the atelier’s exploration of the dialogue between straw and stone. Following SiO I, which focused more strongly on contrasts and plays of light between black straw and mineral matter, this second piece in the collection places greater emphasis on texture, relief and surface perception.

A surface where material takes on new dimension
Through this piece, the atelier deepens its language and shifts its perspective. Material is no longer approached only through contrast, but through its ability to generate a sense of movement, depth and vibration.
A geometric pattern that holds the gaze
Freely inspired by abstract art, its geometric pattern creates a surface shaped by rhythm and effects of depth. The result is an almost shifting impression that reveals the full expressive strength of the dialogue between materials. SiO IItherefore affirms Paelis’s desire to open straw marquetry to new visual territories at the crossroads of contemporary research, material and gesture.
