At Paelis, each team member has been trained to master every straw marquetry techniques and to apply everyday the values defended by the atelier: quality requirement, rigor and passion for perfectly executed gestures.

Founder of Paelis
Manon found her way at the end of her studies in cabinetmaking at the École Boulle, during a professional experience at Atelier Maonia, in Paris. Its creator, Meilleur Ouvrier de France in straw marquetry, introduced her to rye straw. It was obvious. Manon is captivated by the fragility, luminosity and flexibility of this material considered “poor”. For two years, she learned to handle the techniques of straw marquetry and trained her hands and body in traditional gestures.
In 2016, she created her own workshop, Paelis, in order to be able to explore her creativity and develop her own vision of the profession. Manon then decided to take the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition and won the medal in 2019.

At the beginning, Pauline turned towards a scientific path and started to study cellular and molecular biology. After obtaining her master’s degree and conducting a few experiments in a laboratory, she lacked passion and desire.
In 2019, she began to study cabinetmaking at La Bonne Graine in Paris and discovered straw marquetry. In the blink of an eye, she knew it was her material. She then decided to learn on her own. In February 2022, as part of her BMA, Pauline joined the team and brought with her her dynamism and her affection for this discipline.

From the start, Joanne turned to arts and crafts and completed a CAP Marquetry and then Cabinetmaking at the SEPR in Lyon. After obtaining her diplomas, eager to explore other paths, she obtained a DUT in packaging as well as a licence in logistics before working in the restaurant business.
However, after a few years, Joanne could not help but realize that her desire to work in an artistic field was growing stronger. The finesse, the precision and the rigor of the straw marquetry fascinates her.
Meticulous, patient and delicate, Joanne joins the team in September 2022.
