SiO is the first creation by Paelis bringing together straw and stone. It reflects one of the atelier’s defining intentions, to keep innovating, to continually seek out new materials to pair with straw, and to open up new ways of working with it.

Two contrasting materials united in a single language
The entire work is built on the union of two materials with deeply different qualities. One is warm, luminous, light and malleable. The other is denser, more angular and more mineral. From this meeting emerges a composition in which each material asserts its presence while revealing the other.
A wall sculpture shaped by relief and light
Treated through an approach inspired by marquetry, straw and stone come together in a wall sculpture with a singular presence. The matte reflections of the stone enter into dialogue with the more shifting reflections of the straw, bringing forth relief, depth and movements across the surface.
